What About...Making People Smile?

Tuesday 10th March, 2015

Hello everybody!

Marcos and Gonzalo didn’t come yesterday because they are studying for their exams. Good luck!  And to María, also. She has exams, too. But she came the first hour to English.

We spent the whole class talking about the project and polishing the details.

Our Project: Making people smile! We don’t want unhappy people in the street!
You drew emoticons and made cards with pieces of cardboard. We have decided to go to the park across the bridge as we haven’t heard from the shopping mall yet and …time’s up! (time is finishing).
This is how we made the project. And this is what you wrote in your compositions. We can use the compositions like the script of the video.

First stage: Feel
You wrote on post- it cards things you don’t like about your surroundings.
Then you classified them into groups. After that you voted on one action to take. One of you wrote, “I don’t like seeing people are sad.’
‘What can we make about it?’…
… and you got to the second stage: Imagine.
You imagined how to do it. Ideas came up (appeared).
‘We can wear costumes and appear in front of them. This would make them smile.”
“We can give them cards with positive words written on them and put garlands (wreaths of flowers) around their necks.’
The third stage: Do. You split into (divided) groups. You made cards, emoticons and designed  a plan of action. Next week, we’ll put it into practice. We’ll record it and find out (discover) if it works! If we can make people smile!!!
So, get everything ready! Please!!!

And to end with, in the last week of class after the games and the break, we are having a ‘Flea market’. This is a market to sell things we don’t want or things we have made. So, please, bring something to sell (and some money to buy some stuff). You can make bracelets, cakes or bring toys or books… whatever!
We’ll give away (donate) the money we get to a charity
