When do you Watch TV? What do you Watch on TV? Where do you Watch TV?

Tuesday 3rd February, 2015

Hello everybody!!!
What’s up?
I see you’re rather excited! (a little nervous). I wonder why! Is it because you have exams at school, because spring is coming or because you’re looking forward to (you really want) Easter holidays?

It seems to me (I think) we didn’t do much in class last Tuesday, what do you think?

The good thing is that you did your homework and told the rest of us your TV habits. I can see that most of you like ‘Castle’. I love it, too!!! It’s very funny. I like thrillers and detective series. I also like ‘Under Suspicion’ (The new Spanish series that’s on Channel 3). I also noticed that you watch a lot of TV!

We spent some more time talking about TV. We read an opinion letter to a TV magazine called ‘Remote Control’. The writer said she didn’t like the music programmes on TV. She thinks that they have the same old boring music.  She thinks that the girl and boy bands that appear on these programmes are awful (horrible). She prefers watching factual programmes or documentaries.
Another reader of this magazine replied to (answer) this letter. She said she didn’t agree. She thought that music programmes are very good. She likes watching them with her parents.
In this lesson we learnt how to express opinions:
·         I think ‘Castle’ is terrific! (Fantastic, great, very good)
·         In my opinion, music programmes on TV are awful. (Horrible)
·         I don’t agree with you. I think they’re really good.
…and preferences:
·         I like watching sports programmes. Me, too.
·         I love thrillers and documentaries.
·         I prefer watching science fiction series.
·         I don’t like rap music. I think it’s ridiculous.
We learnt to support our preferences with reasons.
·         I don’t like music programmes on TV because the music they play is very old.
·         I don’t like watching ‘The Walking Dead’ because it is scary.
·         Sit-coms (situation comedies) are really funny. I love watching ‘Two and a half men’.
·         I prefer watching television at home to going to the cinema because you can watch TV lying on the sofa.
As for our project, we’re still waiting for the reply from the shopping centre but don’t worry, we have another plan.
For next class we need:
A note from your parents giving you permission to go out of the academy for one hour on a class day.
For homework, describe the different stages of our project in writing because we are going to record it. Draw or download the emoticons, pictures, cheering words… whatever you can think of… and let’s put everything together and finish our project!!!
Some of you wrote very good compositions and that’s why you got more points for our games.
